Caroline Barker

Regional coordinator - Asia

After graduating in Archaeological Sciences from the University of Bradford in 1994, Caroline worked extensively in field archaeology and human osteology in the UK, Europe, the Caribbean and USA.

Later she embarked upon a postgraduate course of study at Bournemouth University in Forensic Archaeology and,since 1997, has worked in the main as a forensic archaeologist and anthropologist. She has worked for the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in Bosnia and Croatia and the Fundación de Antropología Forense de Guatemala (FAFG). Her work involves the search, location and exhumation of clandestine graves and the analysis and identification of victims of human rights abuses and extrajudicial executions.

She is a member of the British Association of Biological Anthropology and Osteology (BABAO) and is presently undertaking research into the development of population specific standards for use on forensic skeletal remains, with particular emphasis on adult ageing techniques and Guatemalan populations. She holds the PgDip in Forensic Archaeology from Bournemouth University.
