Dr Mary Lewis
Mary Lewis has a first degree in Archaeology from the University of Leicester, an MSc in Osteology from the University of Bradford and was awarded a PhD in Biological Anthropology from the University of Bradford in 1999. Her PhD research measured the impact of urbanisation and industrialisation on child health in the past. Mary’s specialist area of expertise is in the recovery and identification of children’s skeletal remains. Previously a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology at Bournemouth University, Mary is now at the University of Reading, United Kingdom. Having been involved in teaching courses in forensic archaeology and anthropology to the police and SOCOs for many years, she has worked on numerous forensic cases in the UK. Mary is also a registered Forensic Anthropologist for the Ministry of Defence responsible for providing a personal identification for British soldiers from conflicts around the world.
