Dr Andy Tyrrell
Andrew Tyrell is a Laboratory Manager and forensic anthropologist at the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command Central Identification Laboratory (formerly the Central Identification Laboratory Hawaii or CILHI). The Central Identification Laboratory (CIL) is the only forensic anthropology laboratory to be accredited by the American Society for Crime Laboratory Directors Laboratory Accreditation Board and has the responsibility for the search, recovery and identification of the United States of America's service personnel, civilians and select personnel from other nations who have died as a result of conflict. The CIL also conducts other humanitarian missions as tasked. Dr Tyrell has worked at the CIL for the last five years, prior to which he worked in the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP). He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Anthropology.
