Colin Johnson
Colin Johnson is a Geographic Profiler and one of only ten internationally qualified practitioners worldwide. He is the only European Fellow of his discipline within the ICIAF, the global overarching organisation encompassing all fulltime geographic and many behavioural profilers internationally. Colin holds an MSc in Forensic and Legal Psychology. He retains links to several universities and has also lectured to specialist audiences across four continents. Colin is a retired Metropolitan Police Officer with 30 years exemplary service, predominantly as a detective. A substantial proportion of his policing career was directly involved in investigating, supporting and advising in serious and specialist crimes. This included secondment for over eight years to the National Crime Faculty ‘NCF’ and appointment to two Association of Chief Police Officers’ professional advisory groups. During this secondment, Colin not only acted as a Geographic Profiler to the British Police Service, but also as the National Police Interviewing Advisor, and the United Kingdom East Region Support Officer to major crime investigations. He has supported over 300 cases in this way, including nationally renowned investigations and holds formal commendations for his work. He authored the 'Practical Guide to Investigative Interviewing' in 1996 and has been closely involved in several Home Office investigative related research papers, academic study on stranger rape geo-demographics, as well as various other specialist articles. Colin is currently employed as a geographic profiling specialist with the National Centre for Policing Excellence – Operations, and is an advisor to other official organisations and agencies.
