Revd Dr David Hart
David Hart, Anglican priest and member of the Third Order of St Francis, was appointed Co-ordinator for Initial Ministerial Education in the Anglican Diocese of Salisbury in January 2007. This role charges him, and members of a wider team, to oversee the formation and training all those authorised for ministry by the Bishop of Salisbury. David came to the UK from South Africa in 1999. He was University Chaplain at Bournemouth University in Dorset, working widely across all the faith communities and between these faith communities and the wider national and international higher education sectors. His South African past involved him deeply in the anti-apartheid struggle both whilst a university student and as a priest licensed to Archbishop Desmond Tutu in the Dioceses of Johannesburg and Cape Town. He remains passionately committed to protecting the rights of those who suffer oppression and prejudice as a result of being considered different by the ruling regime. He has recently ended his terms of office as Moderator of the Churches Commission for International Students and as a member of the National Executive of Higher Education Chaplains. He is currently an advisory board member of the Three Faiths Forum and Chairperson of the Guild of Pastoral Psychology.
